Today, Drs. Jeff & Tina Goodhew attended a lecuture by Dr. Netan Choudhry a graduate of Harvard University, Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infimary. Dr. Choudhry talked about new technologies that are being used to view the retina. These new advances help us do a better job in diagnosing various retinal conditions that we commonly see in our practice. One of these instruments is called an Optical Coherence Tomographer or OCT. The OCT can be thought of as an ultrasound of the retina or the back of the eye. Below is an image of an OCT scan showing the different layers of the retina. Abbey Eye Care will be implementing this new technology at the end of October.
