Getting Your Contact Lenses: How the Process Works?

Before we can prescribe contact lenses to you, we need to examine your eyes. We will thoroughly examine your eyes for any conditions that might impact your ability to wear contact lenses. We also need to determine your contact lens prescription, as contact lens prescriptions and eyeglass prescriptions are different.

Once we’ve confirmed that you are a suitable candidate for contact lenses, we need to measure your eyes to help us find the right fitting contact lens. Using a tool called a corneal topographer, we take precise measurements of the curvature of your eye. This helps us determine which contact lens will offer the most comfortable and stable fit.

At this point, we use the data we’ve gathered to determine which contact lenses we think will work best for you, sending you home with sample contact lenses. You can use these sample lenses for a few days to ensure they work properly and fit comfortably.

If you’re happy with the fit and performance of your new contact lenses, we’ll proceed with writing and filling your prescription. If these contact lenses aren’t quite right for you, don’t be discouraged, we may need to go through a few different sample contact lenses before we find the perfect fit.
