Drs. Jeff & Tina Goodhew attended a live surgery session at Ophthalmic Consultant Centres in Mississauga on Sunday June 2. They were able to observe 3 different surgeons at work.
Dr. Armogan performed a glaucoma procedure where he inserted a filtering tube to reduce the pressure in the patients eye. On the same patient he did a vitrectomy and applied laser to the retina at the same time.
Dr. Ali showed us how a Lucentis injection is performed on patients with wet AMD and diabetic macular edema.
Dr. Yan demonstrated how he opens up filtering blebs in glaucoma patients that have fibrosed over and are not draining properly.
It was fantastic to be able to see such a great group of surgeons at work showcasing different techniques and procedures.
