Every eye has a unique shape and set of visual needs. As a result, each eye interacts differently with contact lenses. Abbey Eye Care provides thorough contact lens examinations and fittings to help you find the perfect contact lens for you and your eyes’ specific needs.
Before we can prescribe contact lenses to you, we need to examine your eyes. We will search for any eye conditions that might impact your ability to wear contact lenses. We also need to determine your contact lens prescription, as contact lens prescriptions and eyeglass prescriptions are different.
Once we’ve confirmed that you are a suitable candidate for contact lenses, we need to measure your eyes to help us find the right fit. Using a tool called a corneal topographer, we take precise measurements of the curvature of your eye. This helps us determine which contact lens will offer the most comfortable and stable fit.
At this point, we use the data we’ve gathered to determine which contact lenses we think will work best for you, sending you home with a trial pair of contact lenses. You can use the trial pair for a few days to ensure they work properly and fit comfortably. If you’re happy with the fit and performance of your new contact lenses, we’ll proceed with writing and filling your prescription. If these contact lenses aren’t quite right for you, don’t be discouraged, return for a contact lens check appointment. We may need to go through a few different trial contact lenses before we find the perfect fit.
Many patients have been told in the past that they can’t wear contact lenses due to the size, shape, or condition of their eyes. This isn’t necessarily true anymore. Many patients can wear what we call “specialty contact lenses.” Abbey Eye Care carries a large variety of specialty contact lenses to address numerous problems and conditions.
Abbey Eye Care looks forward to serving you and your family. Our office is located on the Southeast corner of Dundas and Third Line.
